Teaching assistant/1:1 intervention TA at Lansdowne primary school (2022-09 – Present)
In this role I have the pleasure of helping young children in their education. I complete all necessary interventions and complete all records to show the help and knowledge of individual children. These interventions can be speech and language, phonics, reading, friendship skills, and sensory skills.
I liaise with the class teacher and other members of staff daily to achieve the best outcome. I adapt very easily as not all children are the same, some with more needs than others. I help children with ASD, ADHD, SEMH.
This has helped me to work under pressure and prioritise work loads. I cover full class and teach a variety of lessons in teacher absence, promt and encourage children in small groups and on a 1:1 basis. Whilst working in the school I have completed paediatric first aid training and become a first aid leader.
I use in-house communications daily and systems such as Arbour, Cura, Microsoft. I am out on duty at break and lunch hour to ensure children safety and wellbeing. I speak to parents on a dialysis basis whether this be communicating upcoming events or to speak about the child's day.
I act on things quickly if the parent has any concern. I have worked in KS1 and KS2 and EYFS.
School kitchen assistant / cook at Minterne / The Oaks (2020-01 – 2022-08)
My main role on joining was collecting prepared cooked food and delivering to 2 different schools in time for serving. I helped to serve at the 2nd school and then would collect all tins etc from both and return to the main school. Schools where then closed due to Covid and upon my return I was then placed in my own kitchen.
This was to be a new challenge, giving me a great opportunity to learn new skills. My duties include counting the register and handling all money. I help to cook at the main school and then transport the cooked food to my kitchen and serve the children.
Numbers have increased and I now manage a GA (General Assistant) to help me serve. Also, I now cook myself on a Wednesday and Friday in my kitchen. I ensure that all tasks are finished to a high standard whilst completing all the daily paperwork needed for the kitchen to comply with the highest standards.
I have achieved Level 2 in both Health & Safety in the Workplace and Safeguarding Children since working here. Within this role, I interact with all staff and children and have gained great relationships with them all.
Maternity Leave (2018-10 – 2020-01)
Resident Governance Training Assistant at Optivo (2017-10 – 2018-10)
Optivo was formed in May 2017 merging 2 large Housing Associations together – Amicus Horizon and Viridian. Being employed by Optivo as a level 6 administrator – Resident Governance Training Administrator, I dealt with a variety of residents both face to face and via the telephone. As part of this role I booked appointments and meeting rooms for involved residents and staff, took minutes from the meeting and typed up Agendas and Action points/plans.
Being involved with the residents I helped to book travel and accommodation when required and processed any resident expenses through to Finance whether it be BACS or Pre-Paid Card Claims. With the job I ensured all residents, staff and booking details were kept up to date on the in-house system – which was used by the whole organisation, CRM, Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Outlook. I was the primary administrator for my team to run and organise our online engagement resident forum – The Loop.
General daily admin duties included typing, printing, scanning, emails, mail merging and post. I was also in charge of collating information and event dates for the resident newsletter, proof reading any paper work and terms of reference that my be sent out to residents. I gave advice, help or training to any resident that needed help logging onto the website or their Optivo email address.
I have completed GOBER training which is to promote understanding of Customer Service/experience. I also worked/helped the Data Protection and Compliance Officer helping to extract personal data from subject access requests. I always followed the Optivo Key Core values.
Customer Service Advisor at Dovetail (2015-10 – 2017-08)
Dovetail Services is an inbound subscription fulfilment customer service centre which provides a service to over 60 Publishers. We use a wide range of in-house and online systems to obtain information regarding customer's magazine subscriptions and products. Daily I dealt with customers over the telephone and via email, updating personal details and taking Direct Debit and Debit Card Payments plus Paypal and processing with Prepaid Vouchers – DPA had to be followed with each call.
Complaints also had to be handled via the telephone and email to a high standard. I could also key in high volumes of data entry with great accuracy.
Data Entry Clerk at Golding Homes (2012-12 – 2013-04)
Golding Homes owns and manages over 7,000 homes across Kent.
Homes my role was for a temporary Data Input Clerk. I had to input data into an Access Database for compliance issues for the Asset Management Team. This involved checking paper-based certificates and reports, i.e. gas safety certificates, NICEIC etc.
And collating the information onto the Access Database. This role has helped me further my knowledge of Access and Excel and have improved my skills in both programs. I worked independently alongside a small team.
I am self-motivated and confident in my abilities to complete all given tasks. Once this role had expired, Golding Homes wanted to retain me, and I was asked to join the complaints team. This involved looking into issues and complaints from tenants in their properties, all to be dealt with in an efficient and timely manner and manage resident expectations.
Whilst dealing with the complaints, I had to input information on to the system to ensure that all the issues / complaints were kept up to date and followed through with the correct procedure.
Customer Service Advisor at Vanquis Bank (2012-02 – 2012-08)
At Vanquis Bank I worked as a customer service agent, dealing with any queries that customers may have in relation to their credit cards. In this role I had to take payments and make sure that customers keep their accounts in good working order. I dealt with many different types of customers ranging from low credit history to gold star credit and from this developed the skills to deal with sometimes difficult customers.
I helped with data input which I enjoyed. Team work was essential to reach monthly funding targets for incentives at the end of each month.
Waitress/Bar Maid at Marstons, The Jenny Wren (2010-02 – 2012-01)
I worked as a waitress / bar staff for a family orientated restaurant. I dealt with front desk enquiries and any complaints or issues customers had. I handled and was responsible for money on a daily basis and I had to cash up and tally my receipts against monies taken at the end of my shift.
I worked very well in a team ensuring all aspects of the day-to-day duties were carried out correctly and efficiently. Beehive – this is another Marston's Restaurant, and I was asked to help at this establishment in Eastbourne with the hope I could improve services and increase takings.
Customer Service Advisor at US Eurolink UK (2008-02 – 2008-09)
My responsibilities at this role mainly included answering the phones, placing orders from customers for different companies and magazine issues, also dealing with any queries. I had to deal with many difficult customers in this role that may have been upset or angry about a delay with an order. I was able to deal with these customers in a calm and polite way and used my customer service skills to resolve any issues and to reach.
This role also involved data entry of manual order forms which I completed quickly and efficiently.
