Worked under the guidance of a class teacher in the nursery class undertaking work, care and support programs to enable access to learning for children and to assist the teacher in the management of pupils in the classroom. This role has allowed me to develop my confidence using the welsh language in the workplace. During the past year, also worked as a 1:1 assistant for a child with additional learning needs and a child with behavioural needs.
Communicating effectively is essential in this role. During my time at the school attended a variety of training sessions. These training sessions have enabled me to be able to run intervention sessions.
Run ELSA sessions for children that require support with emotional needs. In order to become an ELSA it is essential to be a patient and understanding person. Plan sessions based on the needs of each individual child.
Must deal with sensitive and confidential information and do so by following the schools policies.
