Suzanne Pryer

Since November 2004, I've been qualified and worked in all areas of Hospital-based Midwifery care. Currently, I serve as a Senior Midwife, overseeing both intrapartum and postnatal care on Delivery Suite. Additionally, I contribute to the high-risk Antenatal and Postnatal ward at Stepping Hill Hospital for NHS Professionals Bank Agency.

With 20 years of experience as a Midwife, I have a deep appreciation for all aspects of Midwifery, including Antenatal Care, Intrapartum Care, and Postnatal Care. Throughout my career, I have worked at various Trusts, gaining valuable skills and experience.

Currently working flexibly, I have the advantage of being able to work in any hospital setting within Midwifery. While I enjoy all aspects of Midwifery, I find particular joy in providing Intrapartum Care. I particularly like Low-risk Birth Centre settings but am also fully capable of adapting to High-Risk Care environments. Moreover, I am fully up to date with all training and Mandatory requirements.

I have had Experience of auditing notes and writing reports following clinical incidents and involved in changes of practice resulting from this. I also teach student midwives in the clinical setting requiring up to date knowledge of current practice, research studies and NICE Guidelines.

Within midwifery I have various areas of expertise of the following

• Providing Intrapartum care to low risk women on midwife led birthing unit including Waterbirths. 
• Provision of intrapartum care to women in a high-risk care setting in hospital 
• CTG interpretation and Fetal Heart Monitoring 
• Obstetric Emergencies 
• Perineal Repair 
• Providing Caesarean section care and High Dependency care 
• Provision of Antenatal and Postnatal Care to women and their families within the community and hospital setting 
• Low and High-risk Neonatal Care from Birth to day 28 
• Breastfeeding and Infant feeding Support 

Outside of my Midwifery role, I also manage a portfolio of Buy to Let properties that my husband and I own, keeping up to date with Landlord legislation and organising repairs and queries for tenants. I also assist with his Mortgage Broker business, with administration and writing reports for mortgage clients.

Over the past few months, recent events have made me realise that I would like to challenge myself further while still utilising my midwifery skills. Moving into an Expert Witness role will certainly achieve that.
