I’m currently a Year 2 teacher, Maths Lead and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, with over 15 years’ experience in education across Early Years and Key Stage 1, as well as senior leadership. I’m originally from Northern Ireland and now live in Hampshire with my two children, one of whom has SEND, which has deeply shaped both my personal and professional outlook. Inclusion and equity are at the heart of who I am, and I’m particularly passionate about supporting children with SEND and their families to feel informed, understood and empowered.
Alongside my classroom role, I work closely with families, staff and external professionals, and through my safeguarding responsibilities I’ve developed the ability to communicate sensitively and remain calm in complex situations. I’m currently completing my NPQ SENCO and continue to build my knowledge through additional training in SEND and trauma-informed practice. I’m now looking to move into a role where I can have a greater impact supporting families more directly, using both my professional experience and personal insight.
I have over 15 years’ experience working in primary education across Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Lower Key Stage 2, both in the UK and internationally. I have held a range of roles including class teacher, Maths Lead and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, as well as senior leadership positions as Deputy Head and Head of Early Years. Throughout my career, I have been responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, leading curriculum development, monitoring pupil progress and supporting staff through coaching and mentoring.
I have extensive experience working with children with SEND, adapting provision to meet individual needs and working closely with families and external professionals to ensure appropriate support. I have also played a key role in school improvement, strengthening curriculum provision and building positive relationships with parents to support both learning and wellbeing.
