As an MSc Bioinformatics student at the University of Manchester, I am passionate about the intersection of biology and technology. With a background in biochemistry (BSc, 2:1), I have developed a strong foundation in experimental techniques, data analysis, and sustainability. My experience spans both academic research and leadership roles, equipping me with the technical skills and soft skills needed to thrive in the dynamic and evolving field of bioinformatics.
My academic journey has been driven by a deep interest in understanding complex biological systems through computational approaches. During my MSc, I have been focused on mastering bioinformatics tools and techniques, such as genomics, proteomics, and systems biology. I am proficient in programming languages such as Python and R, and I use these to analyze biological datasets, implement machine learning models, and visualize data.
I am particularly drawn to applying these skills to genomics research, personalized medicine, and sustainability challenges in the life sciences.
In addition to my technical expertise, I bring strong leadership and project management skills. As the President of the Manchester Hindu Society, I led a diverse team in organizing events, managing budgets, and fostering a vibrant student community. This experience has honed my ability to collaborate effectively, communicate with clarity, and solve problems creatively—skills that are equally vital in a scientific and corporate setting.
Entrepreneurial by nature, I founded ‘Back to the Earth,’ a business specialising in biodegradable plates, with the aim of reducing plastic waste and promoting sustainable alternatives. Through this venture, I have developed an understanding of the importance of data-driven decision-making in business, whether it’s managing inventory, understanding customer behaviour, or optimising marketing strategies. I carry this entrepreneurial mindset into all aspects of my work, always seeking innovative solutions and continuous improvement.
Currently, I am seeking opportunities to apply my bioinformatics skills in real-world research and industrial contexts, particularly in genomics, computational biology, and data science. I am excited to contribute to projects that leverage data to drive breakthroughs in healthcare and sustainability.
I am actively looking to connect with professionals and organisations in bioinformatics, genomics, and data science. I am open to discussing research collaborations, job opportunities, or even sharing insights on bioinformatics and sustainability topics.
