A major part of my career has been achieved working in management within medium to large sized care home settings, where I developed extensive experience in turnaround roles. I have achieved numerous successful outcomes resulting in Improvement Notices/Embargoes, which were in place at the time of my arrival, removed and the reinstatement of admissions permitted.

I have significant experience in restoring the trust and confidence of external partnerships including within Social Services/HSCP, NHS as well as with fellow colleagues throughout these turnaround roles.

Providing nursing care and support for up to 21 clients within residential facility. Main responsibilities included the safe administration of prescribed medicines to those undergoing detox therapy relating to drug or alcohol misuse and the provision of required clinical intervention during medical emergency/crisis intervention. Ensuring appropriate records and care planning were maintained and updated using IT systems in place.

Interim Care Home Manager - Bond Healthcare - East Ayrshire

Appointed on an interim contract for up to 4 months in a medium sized registered nursing home in East Ayrshire. The temporary role was to provide managerial cover and responsibility in the absence of the Home Manager who was on maternity leave and to provide support/guidance to the Deputy Manager and stable the workforce employed there at the time.

Role involved engaging with clients in community hubs or in their own homes, providing advocacy support in relation to general advocacy and accessing benefits available via Social Security Scotland. Participated in the promotion of self-advocacy by encouraging empowerment, confidence and self-awareness. Ensured individuals were recognised and acknowledged, their voice heard and person-centred requirements were addressed with dignity and respect.

Interim Care Home Manager - St.Cecilia's Care Group - Jubilee House, Whitby, North Yorkshire

Appointed to this 6-month fixed term position while the care home was in the process of being acquired by St.Cecilia's Group. Under the previous ownership, the home had been deemed Requiring Improvement by the CQC and an embargo was in place. An improvement plan was already enforced by North Yorkshire Council, who visited frequently during my employment.

Consistent improvements were recorded at each visit and by the end of my fixed term employment, all areas had turned green under the RAG process and the embargo was lifted.

Turnaround experience notably achieved in this role while based at a care home in North Ayrshire in 2019, where 8 requirements had been imposed by the Care Inspectorate resulting in a decision by the regulator to cancel registration. Within 8 weeks of my management at this home, a further unannounced visit was carried out where significant improvement was recorded, 7 of the requirements met and the closure order revoked.
