Experience
Independent Oil Painter & Commissioned Artist at Self-Employed (2021-01 – Present)
- Create and sell original oil paintings from my own ideas, alongside commissioned work shaped around each client's individual brief and expectations.
- Translate subjective, incomplete or highly exact visual briefs into finished paintings, judging when to interpret creatively, when to seek clarification and when faithful execution of a precise vision is essential.
- Manage the full client journey independently, including concept development or reference review, expectation setting, progress communication, revisions, completion, sale, delivery and installation.
Founder & Director - Online Personalised Mug and Gift Business at Self-Employed (2012-01 – 2025-01)
- Built and operated a successful online personalised-products business across eBay, Etsy and Amazon for approximately 13 years.
- Interpreted thousands of customer requests ranging from loosely expressed ideas to exact specifications involving names, dates, wording, images, layout and emotional significance.
- Clarified ambiguous instructions, followed precise briefs closely, managed revisions and resolved problems while protecting the customer's intended outcome.
- Wrote and edited product listings, customer correspondence and sales content, and performed meticulous preproduction checks for spelling, accuracy, consistency and presentation.
