I am nearing the end of my masters in Computer Science at The University of York and I am looking to start my career in tech. I am proficient in programming as well as familiar with many tech concepts learnt throughout my time as a student. I am friendly and willing to learn.
I have yet to work in the tech industry thus far which is why this is a great opportunity for both me and employers to teach me the industry that I am so fascinated by. I do however has experience with very interpsersonal orientated jobs such as videographer and bartender. In these positions, I constantly had to work closely with a team to ensure optimal results for the business.
Especially in my time in the film indsutry, I learnt to work to strict deadlines, as well as talking with and catching requirements from the client to produce the product that they wanted. I had no prior professional experience to either of the two industries but I was able to excel in both due to my ardent aptitude to learn. I would love the chance to transfer my strong interpersonal skills into a teach team.
I am currently on my second masters programme. I recieved a 2:1 in my undergraduate degree in Filmmaking at Leeds Beckett University, before going on to receive a masters with the same university in Sound & Music for Interactive Games. There is where I first came into contact with programming and realised my fascination and potential vocation for it.
I wrote in C# and C++ in this course for audio programming related projects. I also worked in groups for several modules further improving my teammworking skills. I then worked as a bartender before and during the covid pandemic.
Once that was over, I entered into my second masters to gain more skills in an industry I knew I was destined for. This course has been the hardest by far of the ones I have done but also the one I have enjoyed the most. I have written in Java and Python for the course but also became familiar with many tech concepts such as: cyber security, software engineering, computer architecture, big data analytics and artificial intelligence.
I would now love the oppertunity to use these skills I have acquired in a professional setting.
