William Melis

I manage a team of TAs and teaching staff alongside a SENCO in a challenging 6th form SEN setting. I have had to be adaptable in terms of embedding new staff as well as embedding learners into the bespoke timetabling structures and needs of our young people in the last 18 months. Liaising with offsite provisions creating bespoke partnerships and supporting parents/carers as well as ensuring all safeguarding communication is effective and linked are my main day to day duties.

I still cover many of the teaching duties as of 2024/2025. I have worked with children and young people for 24 years and gained a huge amount of knowledge and experience in a variety of settings. My work experience has ranged from age 4 to 18 years, including children with special needs and physical disabilities.

I enjoy developing musical and sporting skills with young people. I have been successful in supporting learners in their development of numeracy and literacy academically. I have enabled learners to enjoy and partake in P.E. and drumming that had never previously wanted to and have experience of doing outreach visits to learners and parents during the lockdown of Covid 19 particularly.
