Work Experience - Aldermore Bank
(2023-08 - 2023-08)
Undertaking work experience at Aldermore Bank gave me a deeper understanding of banking operations. I learnt about how a bank coordinates different departments to ensure a smooth operation and protect consumers' money, along with ensuring they make enough profit to operate at a sustainable level in the long term. I was able to apply key theories as to why Banks make certain decisions.
This opportunity helped me learn more about economic decisions such as the manipulation of interest rates, transaction of bonds and the potential consequences of these decisions on the economy and its members.
Charity School Project - Charity Challenge - St Albans School
(2023-09 - 2024-06)
Wanting to apply economic theories to Entrepreneurship, I chose to take part in 'Charity Challenge', in my school. I ran events such as bake sales and football tournaments as part of a team, raising over £2,500 for charity. This provided me with a chance to use economic concepts to overcome the challenges of starting with a limited budget, such as effective pricing and ensuring efficiency to save on costs and maximise donations.
I gained firsthand experience in applying theories in a practical scenario and it helped develop my research, communication and leadership skills. My experiences in Charity Challenge also helped improve my negotiation skills as well as gaining an experience into dealing with customers face to face.
