- Promoting the prevention of healthcare-associated infections and providing expert advice and guidance to the staff, assuring a safe hospital environment.
- Providing and Maintaining a comprehensive, efficient and effective Infection Prevention Control service by assessing, identifying, developing, implementing and evaluating Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in line with national recommendations and guidance. Ensure that information required to monitor KPIs relevant to HCAI/AMR is gathered, collated and provided to HCA / AMR Committee.

- Knowledge of isolation procedures, advise relevant staff on isolation, and support managers in supervising the implementation of such techniques in specific situations.
- Updating daily IPC reports. Updating spreadsheets regarding MDROs that are known on admission or hospital-acquired.
- Conduct ongoing surveillance using appropriate definitions, documentation, and investigation of hospital-associated infections (HCAI) through review of admission diagnoses, microbiology culture results, isolation orders, patient records, consultation requests, and post-discharge surveillance.
- Able to carry out Clinical Audits, which allows the organisation to self-monitor their practices and be open-minded about improving standards and implementing positive changes when necessary.
- Educating the new and current staff using specialist nursing knowledge derived from clinical experience, ongoing reflection and engagement in continuous professional development.
