Dr.
Pal holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Water Resources Engineering), an M.Tech in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering, and a B.Tech in Civil Engineering. He is a water resources and flood risk management professional with more than 8 years of experience in hydrological and hydraulic modelling, integrated reservoir operation, flood forecasting, flood hazard mapping, climate resilience studies, and development of flood mitigation measures. He has extensive experience in flood risk assessments for large-scale infrastructure projects, including power plants, river basins, and reservoir systems across India, Oman, and Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Pal is proficient in HEC-ResSim, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (1D/2D), HEC-SSP, Python, QGIS, ArcGIS, Google Earth Engine (GEE), and remote sensing applications for hydrological analysis and flood mapping. His expertise includes SAR-based flood extent mapping, GIS and geospatial analysis, hydrodynamic modelling, climate change impact assessment, and design of flood protection structures such as embankments, revetments, spurs, drainage systems, and flood mitigation measures.
He has also conducted several capacity-building and technical training programs for government agencies and water resources professionals in the fields of reservoir operation, flood forecasting, and hydrological modelling.
