Safa Razak

I am a CELTA-certified ESL teacher and trainer, author and entrepreneur, based in Tamil Nadu, India. Currently, I divide my time between Noveltree Academy, a language centre that focuses on inclusive education, and conducting teacher-training workshops and seminars in Indian schools. My interests include grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, phonic teaching, language acquisition, and English for Academic Purposes.

I am also interested in Multiple Intelligences, Early Childhood Education, Teaching for Dyslexia and the use of technology, games and activities in the English Language Classroom. I aim to make teaching and learning as inclusive, engaging, meaningful, motivating and enjoyable as possible, and work towards preparing materials for teachers, including lesson plans, worksheets, grammar and vocabulary support materials, to encourage teachers to do the same, by working with publishers including Oxford University Press and Collins, India. My recent publications include Tune In, Grades 1,2 and 4), a Listening and Speaking course for young learners and Enhanced English Alive, Grade 6, published by Collins, India.

I have been an ESL teacher for close to 15 years. I have taught CEFR levels A1-C1 to students from India, MENA countries, South-East Asia, the USA and the UK. I have also designed and developed the curriculum for a few schools, conducted training workshops for teachers and created worksheets and content for online games and assessments. As a part of staying updated, I have various certifications including CELTA, IELTS Trainer, YLE Trainer and Jolly Phonics teacher.

I have an MPhil in Linguistics along with a Masters' degree in the same field. My areas of specialization are Phonetics and Phonology. In addition to that, I have obtained certificates in TESOL and Applied Linguistics, teacher-training and Early Childhood. I have also gathered knowledge on teaching learners with dyslexia. I also have a Masters' degree in English Literature and Language, along with a Bachelor's degree in the same stream.
