In this project, a systematic study on the effect of temperature on germination efficiency of bentgrass was performed. We selected different species of bentgrass including creeping, colonial, and velvet. Different cultivars from the species were included as well to investigate a general trend.
Results at different temperature showed an interesting behavior of germination efficiencies for different species as well as cultivars. These systematic studies should potentially offer an optimized condition for cold germination of different bentgrass species, important cold season turfgrass.

An extensive study on the effect of seed pretreatment as well as foliar spraying of few important chemicals on plant growth has been carried out. Enhanced plant growth at pre-flowering and post-flowering stages are observed through the combined steps. Senescence of the plant is deferred by the chemicals as evidenced from the chlorophyll, carbohydrate and protein levels as well as amylase activity.
