Full-Stack (Python+NextJS) Open Source Contributor

Role Description As an Open Source Contributor at Nodum, you will work full time remote, anywhere. collaborating with the core team and the broader community to improve and extend the Nodum platform. Your day-to-day tasks will include designing and implementing new features, fixing bugs, reviewing community contributions, and maintaining documentation and coding standards across the codebase.

You will participate in code reviews, contribute to architectural discussions, and help ensure that Nodum remains secure, performant, and accessible. You will also assist in triaging issues, engaging with users and contributors, and refining workflows and tooling that support a healthy open source ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong proficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks commonly used in open source development (e.g., Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Rust, or similar).
• Candidates should possess skills in collaborative software development, including version control (Git), code review practices, and continuous integration workflows.
• Candidates should possess experience with Markdown-based tooling, knowledge management systems, or note-taking applications, and an understanding of local-first or offline-first architectures.
• Candidates should possess familiarity with AI-powered or machine learning–driven features, such as text analysis, summarization, or question-answering, or be willing to learn these technologies.
• Candidates should possess strong written communication skills for documentation, issue reporting, and technical discussion with a diverse, global contributor community.
• Candidates should possess the ability to work independently, manage priorities in an open source setting, and engage constructively with feedback from users and collaborators.
• Experience contributing to open source projects, participating in community forums, or maintaining repositories is highly beneficial.
• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is helpful but not required if equivalent practical experience is demonstrated.
