Holly Buskirk

I am 25 years old and I have lived in Korea for almost three years. I worked for EPIK for two of those years, and branched out this year. I have been told by many co-workers that I bring the light to the office.

I always feel inspired and encouraged to teach the students. Even on the days they may not want to learn. I strive to build a fun, inclusive, and healthy classroom where students feel empowered to answer questions.

That is what I have successfully created at my previous jobs, and I am eager to continue doing the same at my new job as well.

At this position I taught all ages ranging from 10-40+. My duty is to create fun and enticing classes for my students. Our main goal is not only teaching English, but also helping the students find joy in learning the language.

At this position I taught 5-12 year olds. I taught Kindergarten in the morning and Elementary during the afternoon. My duty was to help the students improve their English conversational skills.

I was personally asked to be a teaching assistant for a class titled, Women in Film Studies. I TA’d for a semester, grading papers, tests, and preparing lessons for my professor. This experience made me interested in teaching.

While at this job I taught pre-k (ages 3-4) the alphabet, would read to them, sing and dance to songs,

and make cute crafts. I did not get paid for this, it was a volunteer experience and I loved every minute!
