Experience
Gestalt Psychotherapist at FSWS, ACTS (PSA) (2021-07-05 – Present)
I work as a Gestalt Psychotherapist providing therapeutic support to a diverse range of client groups, including individuals who have experienced domestic violence, trauma, sexual assault, emotional dysregulation, and work with a range of ages from children to older adults. My work focuses on emotional processing, empowerment, and giving tools to help clients develop internal resources, with the aim of fostering greater alignment with their authentic sense of self. I liaise with multidisciplinary professionals both within and outside the FSWS services to ensure coordinated and holistic care for the clients.
Psychology Assistant at MEDE, NSSS (SPS) (2018-09-01 – 2021-07-02)
I worked under an Educational Psychologist in a school-based service, which is college-based. My role included evaluating and assessing the needs of the client to help them reach their best potential. Duties included both assessment and therapeutic based interventions, report-writing, as well as liaising with other professionals within the school psychosocial team.
Gestalt Psychotherapist in Training at Dar Kenn ghall-Sahhtek (2018-11-20 – 2019-03-29)
As part of my placement for the course, I held therapeutic groups for people with eating disorders doing their programme at Dar Kenn ghall-Sahhtek. I worked alongside a fellow trainee, and together we had an 8-week plan consisting of sessions once a week for 2 hours which delved into different topics from understanding the reasons, to self-esteem, to learning supportive tools, among many other therapeutic goals.
Gestalt Psychotherapist in Training at Dar Merhba Bik (2019-08-05 – 2020-09-09)
As another part of my placement, I also volunteered at Dar Merhba Bik, a refuge for women who have been through the experience of domestic violence. Here I had a client I would see for therapeutic intervention and support. Sessions were initially held at the premises, however due to the Covid-19 situation, they were moved to video calls at the client's request. Sessions were terminated when the placement ended, and other supportive services were found for her.
Gestalt Psychotherapist in Training / Gestalt Psychotherapist at Victim Support Malta (2019-03-27 – 2022-10)
As a third part of my placement, I decided to volunteer with Victim Support Malta, working within the area of those who are dealing or have dealt with domestic violence. This was the main area of my placement, and various clients were seen as part of it. Different skillsets and areas have been covered while here, from trauma to working on ego, support to educational sessions.
