Citibanamex - Head of Risk, Control & Compliance (Jun 2020 - Dec 2021)

• Director responsible for the supervision of Mexico HR control environment, through management of internal and external audits, Data Privacy Management and Monitoring of operational controls and residual risk, leading a team of 6 risk management professionals.
  • Directed the implementation of the Global Risk and Control Governance Framework in HR Mexico.
  • Managed a cross-functional team to design and implement -jointly with the Data Privacy Legal and Compliance offices- , the process and control activities to comply with the Federal Law on Personal Data Held by Private Parties.
  • Managed along with Compliance, Office of Governance and Control, and all HR Units the simplification of control activities in HR, reducing them by a third while maintaining HR within Citi's risk appetite.
  • Managed the design and implementation of controls and tools to standardize the performance evaluations of all employees, reducing their execution from 12 to 4 weeks.
  • Managed the design and implementation of communication campaigns and continuous training to improve risk & controls’ management and awareness in HR.

• Coordinator of risk based ad-hoc reviews requested by Citi Senior Management, carried out by cross functional specialists from different Citigroup countries, aimed to improve current processes, identifying risks and designing and implementing corrective actions.
  • Managed the execution of E2E process improvement projects in Human Resources. Among others, the reduction of employee onboarding time (from 12 to 4 weeks) and the implementation of control activities to guarantee the correct evaluation of segregation of duties throughout the organization.
  • Directed a cross-functional team composed by all Citibanamex Business Units, Legal and Compliance to design processes and controls to comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act, for Citibanamex clients customers in the state of California (USA).

• Lead Auditor for the Credit Cards' Claims and Disputes Unit, responsible for the design and execution of the Audit Plan and Business monitoring activities.
• Coordinator of remediation activities to address findings by regulators (CNBV) in credit card delivery processes (protection of personal data), and regulatory reports' data integrity.

• Project Leader for risk assessment in the operating model and redesign of controls for Citibanamex and Zurich-Santander.

• Designed, implemented and managed controls and tools for markets operations and generation of performance reports for Private Banking clients.

• Consultant in operational risk management and internal control for GNP, Citibanamex, BBVA, Multiva, Bansefi and The Bank of New York Mellon.
