As the Head of Education and Lead Educator, I am responsible for providing leadership and direction for the Training Center at headquarters. This involves overseeing the post-basic program and nursing courses and training related to health, patient safety, and quality care. I need to design, develop, innovate and deliver clinical and theoretical teaching.
I spearhead the organizing committee of both international and national level conference in liaison with medical, dieticians, nursing, and public education teams. In addition, I am involved in research and development, research grant reviews for funding, and various AI-related research.
Managing the budget planning and financial control of the training and education department is also a key responsibility. I am responsible for reviewing materials and publications, as well as overseeing staff performance and outsourcing activities. I liaise with the Nursing Board and Malaysian Education Accreditation bodies, as well as HRDF regulations for quality and licensing.
As an educator, I have design and delivered various trainings including Basic Life Support (BLS), Leadership Workshop Series, Patient Safety, and Quality Series utilizing innovative teaching skills such as problem based learning, flip classroom, use of simulation, picmonics and e-learning platforms.
Major achievement: Author of 2 textbook in renal and 1 handbook for BLS. One research in Patient safety and presentation at International platform.
As an academician, responsible for teaching and supervising postgraduate level programs such as Ph.D. research methodology, Masters research methodology, reflective nursing, Leadership and management, midwifery obstetric emergencies, basic life support, basic life support in obstetric, neonatal resuscitation, research supervision, PHD, masters and bachelor degree level. Accountable for reviewing and developing the curriculum for masters and bachelor nursing level, conducting quality and audit activities, organizing conferences, and promoting international postgraduate courses.
As a leader of the postgraduate program, acted as an academic tutor to students enrolled in PHD Nursing, and was the first point of contact for them for academic advice and support. Ensured that students were directed to relevant support services when necessary and supervised research degree students, student projects, and placements as appropriate.
As the Coordinator and Head of Nursing Research, participated in academic activities with industry and other external partners. Maintained and developed links with relevant professional bodies and academic groups, represented the Faculty on appropriate external bodies such as the Malaysian Nursing Board, Malaysia Quality Association, and Accreditation bodies, and took part in relevant internal boards, committees, and working groups at the University level as required.
Overall, responsible for providing leadership and guidance to the postgraduate program, coordinating research activities, and ensuring that academic standards were maintained at the highest level.

As a Nurse Manager, I was responsible for providing clinical, operational, and managerial leadership to the Delivery Suite and NICU services. My role involved leading a cohesive team, ensuring effective communication, and delivering high-quality and safe maternity care. I managed a team of midwives, nurses, and healthcare professionals, and was responsible for the overall performance of the unit.
This included overseeing the delivery suite with 13 birthing rooms, a two-bedded induction bay, and a four-bedded recovery area, as well as two high dependency units, and two operation rooms for emergency delivery and crush emergencies. Additionally, I managed the NICU services with four staff members on each shift. I also oversaw the Midwife Birthing Unit, which is an alongside midwifery-led birthing unit with four Active Birth rooms and two assessment rooms.
My leadership and management skills were instrumental in ensuring the smooth running of the unit and providing the highest level of care to patients and their families.
Achievements: As a Nurse Manager, I successfully cross-trained staff for emergency c-sections to reduce decision-to-cut time. I also implemented the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative, MEOWS, in the maternal area and offered Basic Life Support for Obstetrics and introducing online intrapartum fetal Monitoring, along with measuring team performance. These efforts were recognized, and I was awarded for my outstanding commitment and contribution to the role, earning the title of Nurse Manager of the year.
As a midwife, I have extensive experience in triaging all pregnancy cases, conducting low-risk deliveries, and providing care for high-risk laboring women in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. I rotate in the role of in-charge and have preceptored new staff and mentored students. In the absence of the nurse manager, I have acted as the nurse manager, ensuring smooth operations and quality care.
I also played a leading role in initiating the baby-friendly hospital program, served as the lead lactation nurse and actively took part in research.
Achievement: I have been granted funding for two research projects: 1) investigating the effect of cinnamon on laboring women, and 2) studying the outcome of babies with paired cord blood sampling.
