Job Title: Chef (Local & Continental Cuisine)

Reports To: House Manager / Principal

Location: Ikoyi

Employment Type: Live-in

Salary Range: ₦250,000 – ₦350,000 monthly

Job Summary:

The Chef will plan, prepare, and present high-quality meals that blend traditional Nigerian and continental cuisines. They will ensure that all dishes are nutritious, flavorful, and tailored to the household’s preferences while upholding the highest standards of hygiene, organization, and food safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and prepare daily meals including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, considering dietary requirements and preferences.
  • Cook and present a variety of local Nigerian dishes (e.g., jollof rice, egusi soup, pounded yam, ofada sauce) and continental dishes (e.g., pasta, grilled meats, salads, seafood, soups, pastries, finger foods).
  • Source, purchase, and properly store fresh ingredients, managing kitchen inventory efficiently.
  • Maintain cleanliness, order, and hygiene in the kitchen and pantry at all times.
  • Ensure all food preparation and serving meet health, hygiene, and safety standards.
  • Cater for family events, guest entertainment, and special occasions as required.
  • Develop creative weekly meal plans balancing taste, nutrition, and variety.
  • Monitor food costs, manage budgets, and minimize waste.
  • Collaborate effectively with other household staff to ensure smooth service delivery.
Requirements & Skills:
  • 3–5 years of proven experience as a chef or cook in a private residence, restaurant, or hospitality setting.
  • Excellent knowledge of local Nigerian and continental cuisines.
  • Ability to create visually appealing, high-quality meals and presentations.
  • Understanding of nutrition, dietary preferences, and balanced meal planning.
  • Strong sense of cleanliness, organization, and professional kitchen etiquette.
  • Excellent time management, multitasking, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain composure in fast-paced environments.
  • Trustworthy, respectful, discreet, and dependable.
Education & Certifications:
  • Culinary or Catering Certificate (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Food Safety & Hygiene Certification (an added advantage).
