Alysha Watene

I am looking for a job as a laboratory technician. I am a motivated, quick learner. While I may have limited work experience, I have a positive attitude, and I am always ready to jump in and help out. Through my studies, I have been exposed to various analytical techniques that I feel will be incredibly useful for this role.

Through my lectures, I have a developing understanding of ICPMS, as well as quality assurance and sample preparation and feel that this role will help garner these working skills. I am also learning about the ISO 17025 standard in my lectures and thus will understand the importance of sampling and general laboratory techniques and expectations. I have laboratory experience in both chemistry and biology laboratories on campus and thus will be interested in developing/refining my skills.

As part of my laboratory experience, I can effectively communicate scientific findings and record and interpret data to a high degree.

As a part of my Capstone project at the University of Waikato, I am involved with explaining scientific ideas to students. I effectively explain scientific terminology and guide their understanding.
