Hi, I'm Maxine! I'm a young professional working in the field of geographic information systems (GIS). I've developed both my skills and interest in space technology applications (like GIS and remote sensing) from my undergraduate program.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Astronomy from Rizal Technological University, with a Major in Space Science Technology. Throughout my undergraduate program, I've joined trainings, seminars, and competitions that helped me practice and train my skills in remote sensing and GIS.
Outside academics and my continuous pursuit of lifelong learning and upskilling, I'm an advocate against human and child trafficking. I consider advocating against such serious issues as a life mission, given the hidden, dangerous, and heinous nature of this global problem. In addition to this advocacy, I am also a passionate journalist.
I've written many more features than I can count and remember, yet I continue to strive to be a better journalist every day. As a graduate of science and as a journalist, I'm naturally inclined to gravitate towards advocating for science communication. I believe that through efficient, comprehensive, and properly communicated science information, our people can benefit even more from what we produce as Filipino scientists.
My skills, training, access to resources, and advocacies are all thanks to the Filipino people. Through our taxpayers, I had the privilege to study as a DOST-SEI Scholar and a local government unit scholar. As a young professional, it's my turn to pay it forward.
