- Assist in consultant rounds
- Attend weekly meeting of Bone Marrow Transplant Team
- Coordinate with laboratory and oncology staff in case of Stem Cell Collection
- Coordinate with the consultants, Head Nurses or charge nurses in case of Therapeutic Plasma
Exchange, Red Blood Cell Exchange/Depletion, etc.
- Assess patient, note physical and mental condition through observation and interviews
- Assess and monitor patency of fistula, shunt, AV graft and permanent catheterization for good access to Apheresis procedure
- Document data and determine compliance to medication regimen
- Initiate and administer apheresis procedure/treatment via subclavian, intra-jugular and permanent catheterization
- Perform A-V grafts and fistula cannulations
- Administer fluid therapy, blood products and other parental and oral medication that are related to Apheresis procedure
- Function in emergency situation like seizure, fluid overload, hyperkalemia, cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest and other complication related to apheresis.
- Assist doctor with procedure such as declotting/removal subclavian, intra-jugular catheterization, shunt and AV graft/fistula.
- Maintain patient’s chart in order, document pertinent laboratory data and nursing notes.
- Perform phlebotomy for pre-CBC to healthy family and volunteer blood donors and coordinate result to laboratory medical director prior to initiate platelet or plasma pheresis procedure.
- Encourage family donors to become regular volunteer donors
- Update Kardex and care plan revision
- Prepared, monitored and maintained apheresis machines
- Provide patient and family teaching.
