- Performs CT scan both contrast and non-contrast procedures as well as trauma protocols and angiograms procedures to capture diagnostic images of patients, evaluating to determine whether they are of good technical quality, and explain scanning procedures to patients providing reassurance and support
- Operates CT scanners efficiently according to manufacturer recommendations and institutional protocol and select appropriate scanning parameters to optimize image quality while minimizing radiation exposure
- Perform multiplanar reconstruction (MPR), maximum intensity projection (MIP), volume rendering (VR), and three-dimensional (3D) image reconstructions when indicated and Evaluate acquired images for diagnostic quality before releasing the examination to the radiologist
- Positions and transfers patient comfortably
- Ensures that all procedures are conducted in a safe manner, i.e. venipuncture, contrast administration, and invasive procedure, ensuring patient safety and following procedure to prevent unnecessary exposure to radiation, thus maintaining ALARA principle
- Prepares automatic injector with proper contrast for the procedure, adjusting all setting parameters according to the procedure and radiologist preference and performs contrast administration in a safe manner
- Monitor patients for allergic reactions or adverse events during and after contrast injection, and Recognize and respond immediately to contrast media reactions according to emergency protocols. And Thus, Document contrast type, volume, route, lot number, and any adverse reactions
- Verify physician requests and ensure the appropriateness of the requested radiographic examination, Confirms patient identity using approved patient identification protocols, Reviews patient medical history, previous imaging studies, allergies, pregnancy status, and other pertinent clinical information and Explains the imaging procedures, expected outcomes, preparation requirements, and post-procedure instructions to patients and their companions
- Sterilizing radiologic equipment to ensure the safety of patients and staff
- Follows hospital infection prevention and control policies, Performs proper hand hygiene before and after every patient encounter and Utilizes appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Protects patients, staff, and visitors from unnecessary radiation exposure and Utilizing appropriate shielding devices and collimation techniques and Applying radiation dose optimization strategies while maintaining diagnostic image quality
- Calibrate, maintain, and ensure radiology equipment remains in working order
- Performs administrative tasks, such as answering phone call and inquiries, Encode patient result, scheduling appointments for radiologic exams, and offering pre-procedure advices
- Enter accurate patient data into the Radiology Information System (RIS) and Hospital Information System (HIS), Ensure proper labeling and documentation of all imaging studies and Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with institutional policies and applicable privacy regulations
- Cover duties based on the needs of the department
