My experience and interest in the service delivery discipline has taken me from being a developer to a full pledged managerial position. My passion in seeking something new has made me adept to various fields in telecommunications and IT in general -- from Access to Core network both GSM and Packet Core centric to IT and Platforms delivery.

Smart communications is the top Mobile telecommunications company in the Philippines which is boasting of 60 million subscribers.

In my 12 years in Smart Communications Inc, I have been re-assigned to various groups within the organization. I started in IT - Research and Development where I was given to task in developing systems and applications where vendor provided solutions are not available. I have been successful in seeking and integrating different homegrown and open-source solutions to address and requirements provided.

Some of these solutions needed both my development skills as well as network engineering skill. And was proved to be very innovative at the time.

One of the projects I always proud of is that we developed a homegrown layer 7 deep packet inspection for 2G/2.5G packet core that charges certain downloadable URL’s a different rate. These products are sold by partners as mobile wallpaper, mobile Logo (nokia Logos – feature phones). Our team was able to increase the charging recovery rate from 25%-30% to 95 – 105%.

Given that experience, I was known as an out-of-the-box solutions provider. By understanding different platforms function, I am able to use these as ‘puzzle pieces’ to come up with a diagram like solution with a high percentage of it working as expected. This comes from my passion in mystery and puzzle solving that I have shown even at a very young age.

Even though my knowledge is technical and in-depth, I can still see the big picture of the requirement and its value to the client. I can speak both business sense and technical jargon and be a bridge so that all stakeholders so that they may understand project situations. My discipline in this area is multi-faceted in that I use all of my past technical experiences and soft skills as a solution ‘swiss-knife’ to meet my goals in a very timely manner.

I worked with Amdocs Philippines Inc, Ericsson Telecommunications and Cisco Technologies as Project / Program Manager in the last 4 years after my journey with Smart.

In Amdocs, I was able to handle 100+ projects in less than 2 years and were able to deploy at least 40% of those within the 2 years.

In my 1 year with Cisco, we were able to deploy an automated Cisco network provisioning tool both for IP and Optical technologies. It was highlighted, that as a project manager, I became a clear bridge between business and tech team as I understand both worlds, and were able to deploy multiple complex capabilities in Cisco within that span of 1 year. Both the company and client were happy with the deliverables.
