As a research scientist in the area of colloid and interface science, i was part of a university team delivering valuable results on research projects with different multinational companies. Also, I have a background different from science but always related to the way of thinking. This experience expanded my horizons and helped me to become more adaptable and capable of dealing with new challenges.
Research Associate - Department of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering, Sofia University
During this period I was involved in various research projects with multinational corporations like Unilever, Dow, BASF, Rhodia etc. My research includes experimental and theoretical studies on the formation, stability, rheology, and applications of disperse systems, and on the surfactant control of their properties. The responsibilities were to contribute to the solution of practical problems by getting a deep insight into the observed phenomena through model experiments.
I was using techniques like thin film pressure balance, film trapping technique (type of surface force apparatus) for measuring the interaction of micron-sized drops, optical and electron microscopy observations, emulsification, contact angle, interfacial tension measurements etc.
Visiting Scientist July 2007 – September 2007 Unilever Research Centre, Port Sunlight, United Kingdom -My visit was dedicated to experiments on detergency in presence of enzymes.
Visiting Scientist December 2003 – February 2004 Laboratory of Ultrastructure Research, Okazaki, Japan - I was working on development of a new method for DNA sequestering with high resolution transmission electron microscopy.
Master of Science - October 1992 – July 1997
Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, Bulgaria
