1. WMH Law Corporation (Nov 2021 - Feb 2023): Senior associate in the litigation and arbitration team handling various files independently. Independently acted for a major F&B client in its tenancy dispute and successfully negotiated a positive settlement. Successfully negotiated various settlement agreements. Significant corporate advisory experience having reviewed and drafted a myriad of agreements including but not limited to shareholder, employment and nondisclosure agreements for various corporate clients. Successfully represented a defendant in a defamation suit whereby the court dismissed the claim. Represented clients in international arbitrations in multimillion dollar contractual and construction disputes.
2. Arbiters Inc Law Corporation (Oct 2020 - October 2021): Associate specializing in commercial and civil litigation as well as corporate and tenancy disputes. Extensive litigation experience having had sole conduct of matters in the High Court and State Court including successfully resisting striking out applications and assisting in a two-week trial in the High Court. Acted for a major spa/wellness company in a claim against a former employee for, amongst other things, breach of employment agreement and defamation. Extensive corporate advisory experience having acted for a client in drafting its corporate agreements. Successfully acted in taxation hearings for two (2) clients, obtaining positive outcomes in both.
3. Oon & Bazul LLP (Apr 2020 - Sept 2020): Associate handling a wide range of cross-border commercial disputes including a claim for outstanding invoices for over US$23 million as well as a claim for breaches of facilities agreements in excess of US$14 million involving Indian and American entities. Worked with the partners and senior associates on High Court matters, and regularly drafted the full range of pleadings, affidavits and submissions. Assisted on an SIAC arbitration dispute pertaining to a multi-million dollar contractual dispute between a major Vietnamese commodities firm and a major global commodities firm.
4. Bih Li & Lee LLP (Jan 2019 - Mar 2020): Associate in the litigation department who handled a wide range of matters ranging from civil, commercial and intellectual property disputes. Worked with the partners on High Court, State Court and Copyright Tribunal matters and appeared before the Copyright Tribunal. Assisted in a High Court trial for the recovery of S$2 million, and drafted the range of pleadings, submissions and affidavits for the trial. Entrusted with and successfully oversaw interlocutory applications including a striking out and summary judgment application.
5. BR Law Corporation (Aug 2018 - Dec 2018): Associate handling a wide range of matters including commercial disputes, civil disputes (such as breach of tenancies and breaches of contract), criminal matters and some matrimonial and insurance cases. Clocked significant court experience by running my own files and arguing cases in the State Courts. Conducted a winding up application independently. Handled over 80 motor insurance claims and liaised with a major insurance company with regard to the same. Assisted the managing director of the firm with a number of criminal matters, which included amongst other things interviewing clients and preparing mitigation pleas.
6. Engelin Teh Practice LLC (Jan 2018 - July 2018): Practice trainee in Engelin Teh Practice LLC training in commercial and civil litigation. Assisted the firm's lawyers in the conduct of legal disputes such as cross-border commercial disputes and shareholder disputes and honed my legal research and drafting skills. Assisted in the conduct of a full trial and prepared the first cuts of the affidavits of evidence-in-chief of the key witnesses, the opening statement and the closing submissions. Assisted the managing director on two matrimonial cases where the contested assets were in excess of S$3 million.
7. Ministry of Foreign Affairs (June 2012 - July 2014): Foreign Service Officer (FSO) who served in the Special Projects Desk (SEAI Directorate) and the Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia Bilateral Division (SEAII Directorate). Covered the maritime security, maritime boundaries and the Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia bilateral portfolios. Worked closely with other government agencies in the furthering of Singapore's strategic interests. Planned and staffed visits by key Principals, including Ambassadors, to various countries. Analysed, provided input, and drafted submissions and strategy papers on numerous issues of interest.
