Keen interest in investment banking.
I am currently an investment analyst intern at Shipsfocus Group, where I execute investment deals as part of the S$10m maritime-focused venture capital fund with Quest Ventures and SEEDS Capital. At Shipsfocus, I am mainly responsible for building and delivering financial models, investment memorandums, slide decks and teasers on investment opportunities. On top of that, I am in charge of deal sourcing of investors and investees and the conducting of investment analysis and due diligence of investment opportunities.
I also have exposure to the private debt field in my previous stint at Helicap Pte Ltd, where I executed deals within the technology and alternative lending industries. Through my experiences, I have gained the necessary quantitative and qualitative analytical skills necessary in the banking industry and honed my PowerPoint and financial modelling skills which will be very relevant.
My name is Jerome Chua. By way of introduction, I am currently in between schools, starting university in August this year. My decision to reject my Accountancy university offer come about after making up my mind on pursuing my interest in banking and finance. Hence, I have decided to take a gap year to maximise my internship experience to the fullest.
During this gap year, I have also attained many certifications such as Corporate Finance Institute's Financial Modelling and Valuation Analyst (CFI'S FMVA), Capital Markets & Securities Analyst (CFI'S CMSA) and Bloomberg's Market Concepts. From all these certifications I have attained, I have definitely gained a lot of knowledge and skills required for investment banking especially being proficient at financial modelling.
