DevOps Engineer

You'll build and run the cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines and observability our product teams ship on. You work independently on well-scoped projects and get senior guidance on larger architecture decisions.

Role Description

  • Design, provision and maintain cloud infrastructure as code (Terraform or the cloud's native IaC tool)
  • Build and improve CI/CD pipelines so teams can ship safely several times a day
  • Operate production Kubernetes clusters (EKS, GKE or AKS): deployments, upgrades, autoscaling and troubleshooting
  • Set up and own monitoring, logging, alerting and dashboards; tune alerts so they are actionable
  • Take part in the on-call rotation, handle incidents and write clear post-incident reviews
  • Apply security basics: least-privilege IAM, secrets management, network segmentation, patching
  • Track and reduce cloud spend with tagging, rightsizing and cost reports
  • Automate repetitive operational work with scripts and tooling
  • Write runbooks and docs, and help developers use the platform well

Qualifications

Must have:

Deep expertise in one cloud provider: AWS, GCP or Azure

You have run production workloads on it, not only earned certifications. In that cloud you should be comfortable with:

  • Compute, networking (VPC/VNet, subnets, load balancers, DNS) and IAM
  • Managed databases, object storage and message queues
  • Its managed Kubernetes service (EKS, GKE or AKS)
  • The cloud's monitoring and logging tools
  • Fluent English communication, spoken and written

Strong Kubernetes experience

Hands-on experience running production workloads on Kubernetes, including:

  • Core objects: Deployments, StatefulSets, Services, Ingress, ConfigMaps, Secrets, Jobs, CronJobs
  • Packaging and releases with Helm or Kustomize
  • Resource requests and limits, HPA, probes and rolling updates
  • RBAC, namespaces and network policies
  • Debugging pods, nodes and networking with kubectl, logs and events
  • Cluster upgrades and node pool management

Core DevOps Skills

  • Infrastructure as code, ideally Terraform
  • Docker and container image best practices (small, secure, reproducible builds)
  • Building CI/CD pipelines in at least one tool (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins or similar)
  • GitOps deployments with tools such as Argo CD or Flux
  • Observability stacks: Prometheus, Grafana, Loki
  • Linux administration and scripting in Bash plus Python or Go
  • Git workflows and code review
  • Solid troubleshooting across network, OS, container and application layers
  • Kubernetes debugging: Services (selectors, endpoints, ports, DNS), Jobs and CronJobs (failed runs, schedules, backoff limits, concurrency), and pods stuck in Pending, CrashLoopBackOff or ImagePullBackOff
  • Pipeline debugging: failed builds and deploys, flaky tests, caching, runner issues, and missing secrets or permissions

Nice to have:

None of these are required. Each one is a plus.

  • A professional-level cloud certification (e.g. AWS Solutions Architect Associate/Professional, GCP Professional Cloud Architect, Azure Administrator)
  • Kubernetes operators, CRDs, Karpenter or Cluster Autoscaler
  • KEDA for event-driven autoscaling (e.g. scaling on queue length)
  • Service mesh (Istio, Linkerd)
  • OpenTelemetry instrumentation and tracing
  • Database operations: PostgreSQL, Redis, backups and failover
  • Load and performance testing (k6)
  • Serverless (Lambda, Cloud Functions, Azure Functions)
