Job Summary:
The Game Data Analytics Engineer is a senior game analytics expert engaged on a 3–6 month contract to build, operationalize, and transfer a robust game analytics system to the internal team.
This role is hands-on with senior team members, focused on frameworks, insight quality, and analytics operations — ensuring the company builds the right system from the start and avoids costly rework.
The Expat works closely with the Head of Game Data Analysis, acting as a system builder, strategic challenger, and capability accelerator rather than a line manager.
Mission & Objectives:
- Build and operationalize a scalable, best-practice game analytics system within 3–6 months.
- Elevate the quality of insights and decision-making across game, product, and operations teams.
- Enable the internal data team to operate independently and confidently after the engagement ends.
Scope of Responsibility:
The Game Data Expat is responsible for accelerating maturity across:
- Game Analytics Frameworks (metrics, KPIs, benchmarks)
- Tracking & Measurement Design (events, schemas, data logic)
- Insight Quality & Decision Support
- Experimentation & Live Ops Analytics
- Capability Building & Knowledge Transfer
Key Responsibilities:
Game Analytics Foundation (Hands-on System Building):
- Co-design an end-to-end game analytics framework, covering gameplay, retention, monetization, and live ops.
- Define north-star metrics, core KPIs, benchmarks, and early warning signals for game performance.
- Review and refine event tracking and data schemas to ensure analytical depth and scalability.
Insight Quality & Strategic Challenge:
- Hands-on review and challenge analysis outputs and insights produced by the team.
- Ensure every insight answers the "so what" and leads to a clear decision or action.
- Act as a strategic challenger to the Head of Game Data Analysis and senior analysts, identifying blind spots and biases.
Experimentation & Live Ops Optimization:
- Co-create A/B testing and experimentation frameworks, from hypothesis design to success metrics.
- Guide the team in interpreting experiment results and avoiding common analytical pitfalls.
- Apply international best practices and real-world lessons to live ops, events, and monetization decisions.
Capability Building & System Transfer:
- Coach senior and junior analysts through real production cases, not theoretical training.
- Standardize analytics playbooks, insight templates, and experiment workflows.
- Assess team maturity and recommend next-step improvements beyond the engagement period.
Key Working Relationships:
- Head of Game Data Analysis
- Senior Game Data Analysts
- Data Platform / Engineering
- Game Directors & Product Leads (via analytics use cases)
Success Criteria (Engagement Outcomes):
- A clear, documented game analytics framework adopted by the internal team.
- Improved consistency, depth, and actionability of insights.
- Analytics processes and experimentation workflows running smoothly.
- Internal team demonstrates independent decision-making capability.
- Reduced reliance on external advisors after engagement completion.

Analytical & Technical Expertise:
- Deep understanding of gameplay loops, retention mechanics, monetization models, and live ops.
