Test Development Manager

Job Description

Our client, a world-leading, top-10 EMS provider of integrated electronic manufacturing services, is seeking a Test Development Manager.

The company provides specialized engineering services, including product design, printed circuit board layout, prototyping, automation, and test development.

General Responsibilities

• Managing a team of Test Development staff.
• Providing annual departmental resource and capability planning and roadmap based on customer and internal workload demand.
• Managing and coordinating Test Development projects internally and with customers.
• Focusing on engineering design of product test solutions using standard test platforms or wholly custom test developments, to provide manufacturing solutions that meet both the customers’ requirements and the company’s manufacturing support groups’ requirements.
• Designing system & PCBA schematics using Altium for custom system & circuit interfaces and signal controls & conditioning in test system design.
• Creating test automation programs using NI LabVIEW, TestStand, Python, and C language is a plus.
• Analyzing customer requirements and proposing test solutions to the end customer based on a strong knowledge of test methodologies.
• Creating documentation related to tester/fixture design projects.
• Contacting and working with test component vendors and engineering services contractors.
• Collaborating with internal manufacturing support groups to understand the requirements of the production environment and effectively transitioning test solutions to production.
• Communicating technical test issues & challenges and implementing solutions.
• Participating in/leading test strategy development discussions on customer teams.
• Participating/leading continuous improvement activities with complete documentation, including follow-up reviews with the team in presentation format.
• Working with Project Managers on all relevant aspects of test development to ensure design solutions are completed on schedule, within budget, and meet design intent.
• Learning and working with advanced technologies (Boundary Scan, ISP, embedded test, etc.) as needed and under specific direction.
• Developing an understanding of Design for Testability and Test Strategy development, and promoting it with customers.
• Performing research and development for new methods of testing and utilizing automated test equipment.

Qualifications

• Master’s/Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of experience in electronics test development.
• Possessing advanced knowledge of software languages and programming techniques, revision control, and functions verification and validation techniques.
• Demonstrating effective use of test software development applications (NITestStand, LabVIEW, LabWindows, Python, or other software languages) and lab test equipment.
• Possessing an intermediate/advanced engineering level understanding of electronic components and the design of circuits and systems.
• Knowledge of interfacing with SPI/I2C/USB/PCIe/UART/GPIB/RS232/CAN Bus/Multibus/PWM/JTAG/RFID is a plus.
• Knowledge of different fields/applications, such as RF/High Power Testing/Semiconductor, is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills and troubleshooting abilities for electronic circuits.
• Demonstrating self-directed project organization following test development procedures.
• Having a good understanding of test development techniques and the ability to apply test solutions for intermediate-level test scenarios.
• Effective written and verbal communication, as well as presentation skills, in English.
• Demonstrating effective interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Ability to take on project leadership/ownership.
• Making independent judgments using sound engineering principles and techniques.
• Demonstrating the ability to work effectively with customers.
• Available for occasional short overseas trips.
