Test Engineering Director

Test Engineering Director A leading international electronics manufacturer is seeking an accomplished Test Engineering Director to lead its test engineering strategy, capabilities and technical organisation in Thailand.

This senior leadership position will oversee the development and implementation of advanced test solutions supporting new product introduction, manufacturing, product validation and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary team while working closely with global customers, operations, quality and product engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Test Engineering organisation, including engineers, specialists and technicians.
• Define and execute the site’s long-term test engineering strategy and technology roadmap.
• Oversee the development, qualification and deployment of test systems for complex electronic products.
• Drive improvements in test coverage, cycle time, yield, equipment utilisation and manufacturing efficiency.
• Provide technical leadership in resolving complex product, process and test-related issues.
• Support new product introduction, product transfers, qualification and production ramp-up activities.
• Develop test strategies covering functional, in-circuit, system-level and reliability testing.
• Lead automation initiatives and the introduction of advanced test technologies.
• Analyse test data and manufacturing performance to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
• Partner with customers to understand technical requirements and develop effective test solutions.
• Manage annual operating plans, capital budgets, staffing requirements and equipment investments.
• Establish engineering standards, procedures and performance measures across the Test Engineering function.
• Recruit, develop and mentor a high-performing engineering team.
• Promote a culture of technical excellence, innovation, accountability and continuous improvement.

Candidate Profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• At least 15 years of progressive experience in test engineering, product engineering or electronics manufacturing.
• Proven leadership experience managing a substantial engineering team or technical organisation.
• Strong background within EMS, semiconductor, PCB/PCBA or complex electronic product manufacturing.
• Extensive experience developing and implementing manufacturing test strategies and systems.
• Good understanding of functional test, in-circuit test, automated test equipment and system-level testing.
• Experience supporting new product introduction, product transfers and high-volume manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of test data analysis, yield improvement, root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Experience managing capital equipment, engineering budgets and technology investments.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with global customers and senior leadership.
• Strong English communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working within a multinational electronics manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of Design for Testability, Design for Manufacturing and product validation.
• Familiarity with relevant electronics manufacturing and quality standards.
• Experience establishing or expanding engineering capabilities within a growing manufacturing operation.
