I am Emerald Anne S. Jorda, and I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts –magna cum laude honors from The University of the Philippines Diliman as well as some M.A. courses in International Relations from the Catholic University of Korea as an exchange scholar. In addition, I have obtained my TOEFL and IELTS certifications.
Moreover, I have finished my Master of Education, majoring in Teaching English from the Ifugao State University, Philippines. I have also published my two research papers in the ASEAN Journal of Innovation & Management, ISSN 2351-0307, in Volume 8 Number 2, July – December 2021, and at the 14th National and International NICHSS Conference Proceedings on Humanities and Social Sciences, 26th October 2021, Prince of Songkla University, Phuket, Thailand. Considering my Speech Communication skills, English language teaching, Research studies, and Theatre arts experiences, among others, in the international field, I would like to apply as an English Teacher.
Currently, I am teaching as a Full-time Instructor of English at the British Council Language Teaching Thailand, teaching primary 3 to 6 students to their partner school Chulalongkorn Primary department. Also, I am a part-time teacher for adult professionals with Intermediate English level at the British Council Language Center in Bangkok. Previously, I was an English Lecturer at Stamford International University for four and a half years in Bangkok, Thailand.
My job includes teaching English Language, Drama, and Public Speaking. I also have completed my 144 hour TESOL Cambridge course training in Phnom Penh, Cambodia under the Language Corps Asia. With this additional teacher training certification background and master’s degree, I feel that I possess the competence, integrity, and flexibility necessary to teach English to both Non-native and native speakers.
Of particular relevance to the position being applied for, is my experience as an English language teacher to students in South Korea, Cambodia, China, Thailand as well as in the Philippines. I learned that teaching a foreign language entails a lot of creativity, innovation, teamwork, and hard work. Moreover, my responsibilities include Face-to-face, online, and hybrid teaching, lesson planning, facilitating group discussions, drafting student evaluation reports, and preparing various language co-curricular activities for students.
In turn, these duties further enhanced my excellent communication and organizational skills which are essential qualities in teaching or supervising any course.
