Ivan Rock

I am a passionate teacher, with a strong work ethic and proven track record for developing a culture of sport by engaging, inspiring and extending all students. I believe wholeheartedly in inclusion and through my philosophy of "excellence without elitism", I create opportunities for all students to discover a sport they will enjoy, fulfill their potential and most importantly, represent their school.

I am a highly qualified teacher, with a proven track record of proactively strengthening all areas of Physical Education, including swimming and providing a stimulating learning environment for all of my students from EY1 through to KS5. Throughout my 29 year career, I have gained experience of working and leading departments in secondary, independent and international schools, as well as setting up departments in 3 “start up” schools.

I am currently the Founding Director of Sport at King's College Bangkok. As a new school, I have enjoyed fulfilling a multitude of tasks, in a short period of time, in order to set up my department. Most importantly, I have developed an enthusiasm within the students for solving problems in the world outside of the classroom, through an innovative approach to education, embedding routines, expectations and a sustained passion for learning. Whilst learning many new sports, the students are motivated and enthused about their lessons and happy to be engaged in an environment which is challenging, yet supportive, stimulating and ultimately, rewarding.
