Application Developer - Carson City

Requirements

Must have:

- We require hands-on experience with .NET 8+ and C# development.

• We require practical experience using Azure DevOps for CI/CD, source control, and work tracking.
• We expect strong analytical thinking and clear communication skills.
• We need proven experience building and supporting secure custom web applications with C#/.NET, Razor Pages, Entity Framework, and Microsoft SQL Server.
• We require experience deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting applications hosted on IIS in on-premises Windows Server environments.
• We need solid knowledge of relational database design, stored procedures, migrations, data classification and governance, audit trails, and secure handling of sensitive application data.
• We require the ability to work on public-facing and internal enterprise applications where security, reliability, auditability, compliance, and operational stability are essential.
• We expect familiarity with authentication, authorization, role-based access control, secure configuration management, logging, and production-grade error handling.
• We require experience working in restricted or high-security enterprise environments where third-party dependencies, public APIs, SaaS platforms, or standard cloud services may be limited or unavailable.
• We need strong operational risk awareness and the ability to safely update existing codebases, including legacy systems, without adding unnecessary complexity.
• We require disciplined documentation, communication, and source control habits, with the ability to coordinate changes across development, test, and production environments.
• An associate degree is required.
• We require 5 years of .NET experience.
• We require 5 years of C# experience.
• We require 3 years of Azure DevOps experience.
• We require English language proficiency.
• Local candidates only in the Carson City, NV area are eligible, with hybrid availability.
• The role is expected to be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Responsibilities:

- We will provide advanced technical expertise and guidance for the design, modernization, and support of mission-critical software systems.

• We will modernize legacy VB.NET and .NET Framework applications into C# and .NET 8+.
• We will design, develop, and maintain secure web applications using C#/.NET, Razor Pages, Entity Framework, and Microsoft SQL Server.
• We will deploy, configure, and troubleshoot applications running on IIS in on-premises Windows Server environments.
• We will build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, version control, and work tracking processes in Azure DevOps.
• We will ensure solutions meet agency expectations for security, scalability, reliability, auditability, and compliance.
• We will collaborate with stakeholders to understand needs and deliver aligned solutions.
• We will maintain thorough documentation and coordinate changes across development, test, and production environments.
• We will operate within restricted or high-security enterprise environments while following agency rules for third-party dependencies and cloud services.
• We will manage operational risk and make safe changes to existing codebases, including legacy systems.
• We will provide technical guidance and support to team members.

Company:

We are offering a 1099 contract role based in Carson City, NV with a hybrid work arrangement for local candidates only. The assignment pays $96 per hour and runs from the end of August 2026 through at least June 2027. We work on mission-critical agency software in a highly skilled, experienced team, with a strong emphasis on modernization, security, stability, and compliance.
