Overview
Seeking an experienced AWS Application/Data Platform Developer to support, maintain, and enhance an enterprise AWS data environment supporting international sales, manufacturing, and product development data. This role requires 8+ years of overall application development experience and strong hands-on AWS expertise, with an emphasis on production support, troubleshooting, break/fix, and responding to business requests.
The developer will inherit and maintain an existing AWS stack originally developed and operated by an international team. The primary responsibility will be to keep the environment stable, operational, and responsive to business needs while documenting and understanding the existing architecture. Over time, the AWS environment is expected to be unwound and migrated into a U.S.-based technology model consisting of a greater mix of Azure and on-premises technologies.
Duties
- Maintain and support an existing enterprise AWS data and application environment, ensuring continued availability and reliability.
- Provide hands-on production support, troubleshooting, debugging, and break/fix expertise across the AWS stack.
- Respond to business requests and implement enhancements, fixes, interfaces, and application changes as needed.
- Develop and maintain enterprise-level applications, integrations, automated processes, and data solutions.
- Support AWS services including Glue, Lake Formation, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, SageMaker Studio, Lambda, Athena, RDS, Airflow, and S3.
- Troubleshoot application, data, integration, and infrastructure-related issues across the AWS environment.
- Analyze existing architecture and code to understand how the inherited environment operates and identify dependencies between components.
- Work with international sales, manufacturing, and product development data within the existing AWS data hub.
- Leverage existing technical documentation, including Confluence-based data hub documentation, to understand the current environment and support model.
- Develop and maintain Python and SQL code supporting applications, data processing, integrations, and automation.
- Design, develop, test, debug, and implement software solutions using established software engineering practices.
- Support application integration across business systems and data sources.
- Maintain and enhance existing programming architectures, standards, procedures, and reusable components.
- Research emerging technologies and evaluate potential applications to business requirements.
- Assist with the eventual transition and unwinding of the AWS environment as functionality is migrated into the organization's U.S. technology model.
- Collaborate with the BI Developer and Architect on technical issues, enhancements, troubleshooting, and ongoing platform support.
Required Skills- 8+ years of overall software/application development experience.
- Strong hands-on Amazon Web Services (AWS) experience is required.
- Proven production support and break/fix troubleshooting experience in enterprise application or cloud environments.
- Experience supporting and maintaining existing/inherited AWS environments rather than exclusively developing new applications.
- Hands-on experience with multiple AWS services, including:
- AWS Glue
- AWS Lake Formation
- AWS CloudTrail
- AWS CloudWatch
- AWS SageMaker Studio
- AWS Lambda

- AWS RDS
- Amazon S3
- Experience with Apache Airflow or similar workflow orchestration technologies.
- Working knowledge of Python.
- Working knowledge of SQL.
- Experience developing, testing, debugging, and maintaining enterprise applications and data solutions.
- Experience with application integration, interfaces, and automated systems.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies and object-oriented programming concepts.
- Ability to analyze existing applications and architectures and troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Ability to work independently with general supervision and take ownership of production issues and business requests.
Preferred Skills- Experience supporting AWS data platforms or enterprise data hubs.
- Experience with AWS data engineering and ETL/ELT solutions.
- Experience with international sales, manufacturing, product development, or other large enterprise data environments.
- Experience inheriting and maintaining technology environments originally developed by another team or geographic region.
- Experience working with Confluence for technical and architectural documentation.
- Experience with AWS-to-Azure or cloud-to-on-premises migration initiatives.
- Experience supporting technology modernization, platform migration, or application decommissioning efforts.
- Familiarity with enterprise BI environments and collaboration with BI developers.
- Experience working within small, highly collaborative technical teams.
- Knowledge of data security, governance, monitoring, logging, and access management within AWS.
