Looking exclusively for back end developer’s NOT full stack. If the resume reads 50/50 or below 70% back end, we will not be able to move forward with the application. AWS and LEAD experience is also a must!
Location: Downtown Chicago, IL (near west loop)- local candidates ONLY
Workplace type: Onsite/hybrid (Hybrid; will need to go into office 2x a week; but MUST be open to the potential of being 100% onsite at some point during the contract, could be after first month)
Type: Contract
Pay: $67-68.77/hour on w2
IV type: ONSITE+ 1 tech screen prior to submission-3 rounds- ( 1 hour each typically); coding exercises, theoretical questions to answer, etc. (Might be able to combine rounds dependent time)
Length: 12 months- possibility to extend

Must haves:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or electrical engineering or related field is required w/ 8+ years’ experience needed- cannot be 7 years and 9 months, must be minimum 8 years
- min 2-3 years of Leadership experience (team lead, etc)
- Good tenure- last two roles must be at least 1.5-2 years minimum tenure to be considered
- Majority back-end development experience (overall 75-80% + back end versus front end) and back-end developer job titles- will not consider anyone with recent roles as "fullstack" or "front end"
- Agile framework experience /scrum environment ideally
- Hands on AWS experience (kinesis, SNS, SQL, S3, DynamDB, RDS)- Deploying and maintaining software using public AWS clouds
- Java development- with versions 11, 17 or higher
- Hands on data base experience
- Kafka experience
- DevOps experience
- Enterprise level work environment
- solid tenure- last 3 roles 1.5 years+ MINUMUM
- Slick – SQL queries
- Some architecture experience
- +Any AI experience is HUGE plus

Job Description:
As a java lead Engineer you will contribute to design, development and deployment of Clients state-of-the-art digital platform.
Typical task breakdown:
- 1. Competent to perform all programming and development assignments without close supervision; normally assigned the more complex aspects of systems work.
- 2. Acts as team leader for development and support groups; provides programming and application/technical leadership, guidance, and assistance to other team members.
- 3. Works directly on complex application/technical problem identification and resolution, including responding to off-shift and weekend support calls.
- 4. Works independently on complex systems or infrastructure components that may be used by one or more applications or systems.
- 5. Drives application development focused around delivering business valuable features 6. Maintains high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits.
- 7. Identifies and encourages areas for growth and improvement within the team.
- 8. Mentors junior developers.
- 9. Communicates with end users and internal customers to help direct development, debugging, and testing of application software for accuracy, integrity, interoperability, and completeness.
- 10. Leads development of new functionality and applications on cross-functional teams
- 11. Performs integration testing and customer acceptance testing of components that requires careful planning and execution to ensure timely, quality results
- 12. Participates in technology evaluation and recommendations.
- 13. Applies an enterprise-wide view to solutions to support the adoption of standards and practices and promote reuse.
- 14. Employee is also responsible for performing other job duties as assigned by client management from time to time. The position manages the completion of its own work assignments and coordinates work with others. Based on past experiences and knowledge, the incumbent normally works independently with minimal management input and review of end results. Typical customers include client customers, dealers, other external companies who purchase services offered by client as well as internal business unit and/or service center groups. The position is challenged to quickly and correctly identify problems that may not be obvious. The incumbent solves problems by determining the best course of action, within departmental guidelines, from many existing solutions. The incumbent sets priorities and establishes a work plan in order to complete broadly defined assignments and achieve desired results.
