About The Role As a Principal Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) at Invisible, you will play a crucial role in leading high-impact, AI-powered solutions that fundamentally change how our clients operate their critical workflows. This role involves not only building and deploying AI models but also shaping the strategic architecture and overseeing the end-to-end implementation of solutions.

You will work directly with clients to understand their needs, identify transformation opportunities, and turn ambiguous workflows into scalable, repeatable systems that deliver measurable results. Your expertise will influence the technical direction of projects, ensuring they meet performance, scalability, and reliability standards while aligning with client objectives.

This position is hybrid, requiring a blend of hands-on AI engineering, software development, and technical consulting. It is ideal for professionals who enjoy working closely with models, engaging with clients, and making a tangible impact through innovative AI solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to building reusable infrastructure and internal best practices.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including extensive work on data, machine learning, or backend systems
• Deep proficiency in Python and experience with ML/LLM frameworks such as Hugging Face, LangChain, OpenAI, and Pinecone
• Hands-on experience with full-stack and API deployment patterns, including Docker, FastAPI, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (GCP, AWS)
• Knowledge of platform orchestration tools, pub/sub systems (Kafka), and schema governance
• Expertise in data governance, data operations, Delta/ETL pipelines, and data quality enforcement
• Strong product and system design skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
• Experience building systems from messy data with ambiguous requirements
• Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Proven track record of owning projects from scope to deployment in high-stakes, ambiguous environments
• Willingness to be on-call for client support when necessary
• Ability to travel approximately 25-50%, including short-notice trips primarily across North America and occasionally internationally
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent professional experience

Responsibilities

• Partner with delivery teams and executive stakeholders to scope, design, and lead the implementation of AI-driven solutions
• Identify opportunities to transform complex, ambiguous workflows into scalable, repeatable systems
• Design system architecture, evaluate trade-offs related to performance, scalability, cost, and reliability
• Manage projects from initial discovery through full deployment, including client-facing delivery, internal coordination, and post-launch iterations
• Develop shared infrastructure, reusable components, and internal playbooks to enhance team capabilities
• Mentor and coach mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence within the team
• Engage directly with clients to understand their needs, present solutions, and ensure successful implementation
• Maintain high standards of quality and performance throughout the project lifecycle
• Be available for on-call support to address client issues promptly and effectively
