Job Role: Java Backend Lead Developer
Location: McLean, VA or Plano, TX
Work Model: Hybrid – 3 days/week onsite
Duration: 7 months (Possibility of Extension)
Interview Process: One 60-minute technical panel
About the Role
- This is a backend-focused, hands-on individual contributor position supporting Project Phoenix, a new phase of development focused on building a business application/process engine.
- Approximately 70% of the work will involve Java backend development.
- Although the title includes “Lead,” this is not a people-management role. The selected developer will primarily focus on coding, technical discussions, code reviews, backend application development, and collaboration within an existing enterprise ecosystem.
Must-Have Skills
- Strong Core Java
- Strong Java backend development
- Spring Boot / Spring Framework
- Experience developing enterprise/business applications
- Working knowledge of AWS
- Ability to quickly understand and contribute within an existing large-scale enterprise environment
- Strong hands-on development experience
Preferred AWS Experience
- AWS Lambda
- AWS Fargate
- Other AWS services supporting backend or microservices applications
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Business application or process engine experience
- Event-driven architecture
- Microservices / REST APIs
- AI-assisted developer tools such as Claude, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools.
