About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the backend systems and APIs that power our core platform.

Your expertise will directly influence the architecture and scalability of our services, enabling fast and accurate out-of-network reimbursements for healthcare providers. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams—including product, data, and frontend—you will translate complex requirements into robust technical solutions. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment where your contributions have a tangible impact on improving healthcare reimbursement fairness.

As a leader within the engineering team, you will mentor junior engineers, shape best practices, and drive technical excellence across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field (additional experience in lieu of a degree will be considered)
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on building service-oriented or distributed systems
• Proven experience designing, scaling, and maintaining backend systems in production environments
• Deep understanding of software engineering fundamentals and design patterns
• Strong proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL
• Proficiency in Python (preferably with FastAPI and SQLAlchemy) or other object-oriented programming languages
• Experience with cloud infrastructure platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• Knowledge of DevOps practices, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD pipelines is a plus
• Pragmatic problem-solving skills with the ability to balance ideal architecture with real-world constraints
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, early-stage environments with high impact

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable, high-performance backend services that support real-time data workflows and decision-making processes
• Build secure, reliable, and efficient APIs to power our platform and facilitate integrations with internal and external systems
• Collaborate with product teams to deliver end-to-end features, translating ambiguous requirements into effective technical solutions
• Contribute to system architecture decisions, focusing on performance, scalability, and maintainability
• Manage the full development lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and post-release support
• Promote best practices in code quality, testing, DevOps, and observability to enhance developer experience
• Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering technical growth and professional development within the team
• Continuously evaluate and improve existing systems to ensure reliability and efficiency
