Job description
What You Will Do Here: meta-level work
- Augment our architects
- Take their toil upon yourself
- Apply theory-of-mind and legwork to conserve architect time
- Annihilate the toil with tooling and AI agents
- Earn knowledge across the stack and trust across the team
- Do object-level work: getting your hands wet helps you do meta-work even better
- Transform the way we work by incorporating AI into our workflows
- Become a generalist: use the knowledge and trust you learned to solve problems across the company
- Object-level things you'll be working on & learn how to do:
- Our hardware architecture: spec, diagrams, rationale
- Rust simulator for our architecture
- RTL code of our behemoth-scale AI Acceleration ASIC
- Design Verification of this ASIC
- Infrastructure to enable all of the above
- Future-oriented research:
- High-level Python simulations for architectural features
- ML experiments for validating our approach to AI
- Writing RL environments to improve frontier-llm performance on hardware design tasks
Who You Are
- 0 - 2 years of experience with systems programming using Rust / Python / HDLs. Linux experience is a must. Non-coursework projects preferred; among HDLs, RTL experience preferred
- You are a strong communicator, with the ability to flex to various styles (since you'll communicate with everyone in the company)
- You have a "Get Things Done" mentality. You roll up your sleeves to proactively problem-solve, undeterred by challenges and limitations. The words "that's not my job" are blasphemy!
- You are genuinely interested in people and see the support of others as enabling people's best work for the success of the company
- You are able to context switch, shifting between tactical and big-picture. You can zoom through multiple levels of abstraction with ease, tracking cross-scope implications
- You believe that kindness matters. You have a strong regard for the dignity and lived experience of others. You can spot situations at work where kindness and respect may be lacking, and bring it back to basics
- This is a hybrid role that will require you to work from our Mountain View, CA office 3 days a week on Tuesday through Thursday. We will support your relocation
Bonus Points If You Have
- Experience optimizing hardware or software
