As an Embedded Software Programmer, you'll architect and develop cutting‑edge embedded systems that power real‑time controls and communications for the energy industry and beyond.
You'll work on high‑impact R&D programs supporting the client's businesses and U.S. Government agencies including DoD, DARPA, DHS, and DOE, transforming early‑stage lab concepts into field‑ready technologies that make it into real products.

Architect and develop state‑of‑the‑art embedded systems for real‑time control and communications
Transition technologies from lab demonstrations to fieldable prototypes
Collaborate with hardware vendors and tool providers to solve complex industrial and defense challenges
Advance the state of the art in embedded computing within a collaborative, high‑energy R&D environment
Work alongside multidisciplinary teams to mature technologies into business products
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
Strong proficiency in Embedded C/C++
Experience with scripting and programming languages such as Bash, C#, Python, MATLAB
Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., hypervisors, Docker containers)
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. (No visa sponsorship available now or in the future)
Ability to work onsite in Niskayuna, NY
Must be 18 years or older
Desired Skills & Experience
Software & Systems
Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
Linux driver and kernel development experience
Working knowledge of Linux build systems (e.g., Yocto)
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git/GitHub)
Understanding of embedded system security concepts
FPGA & SoC Design
Strong FPGA and SoC development experience using Verilog, SystemVerilog, and/or VHDL
Hands‑on experience with Xilinx and/or Intel (Altera) FPGAs and toolchains
(Vivado, Quartus, ModelSim, etc.)
Solid grasp of digital logic design (FSMs, pipelining, resource optimization)
Experience with RTL simulation, synthesis, place‑and‑route, and timing closure
Knowledge of clock domain crossing (CDC) and metastability mitigation
UART, SPI, I²C, Ethernet, PCIe, DDR
Testbench development and functional verification experience
Proficiency with on‑chip debugging tools (ILA, SignalTap)
Ability to interpret schematics, timing diagrams, and hardware datasheets
Experience with Git or other version control systems
Advanced Design & Modeling
Experience with High‑Level Synthesis (HLS) tools
Exposure to Vitis HLS and algorithm‑to‑hardware workflows
Integration with MATLAB/Simulink for model‑based design and verification
Work on mission‑critical technologies with real‑world impact
Collaborate with world‑class engineers and scientists

This is a Contract position based out of Schenectady, NY.
Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $ $67.00/hr.
