Job description

About The Company Medica is a reputable nonprofit health plan dedicated to providing personalized healthcare experiences to over a million members across Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Missouri, and beyond. Our mission centers around ensuring that our members receive compassionate, coordinated, and high-quality care. We foster a community-driven environment where collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning are at the core of our operations.

By partnering closely with healthcare providers and leveraging innovative technology, Medica strives to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the communities we serve. Our commitment to excellence and inclusivity makes us an employer of choice for professionals seeking to contribute to impactful healthcare solutions.

About The Role We are seeking a talented and motivated Technology Engineer to join our Digital Content and Site Management Team. As an IT Engineer IV, you will serve as an experienced technical professional responsible for designing, implementing, supporting, and continuously improving enterprise technology solutions within your assigned areas. This role involves handling complex projects with limited supervision, providing clear communication, technical guidance, and innovative solutions to support Medica’s digital applications.

You will work closely with developers, business subject matter experts, and stakeholders to develop solutions that enhance our member portals, content management systems, and document storage applications. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in modern programming languages, cloud-based interfaces, and enterprise system integration, contributing to Medica’s goal of delivering seamless digital experiences to our members and partners.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field, along with at least seven years of relevant work experience beyond their degree. Advanced skills in Java are essential, with proficiency in React and familiarity with content management platforms such as Jahia, SiteCore, or Laserfiche being highly desirable.

Experience working in cloud environments and end-to-end application development is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to work collaboratively within an agile team. Knowledge of object-oriented programming, UI/UX considerations, and security best practices is also important for success in this role.

Responsibilities As a Technology Engineer IV, your key responsibilities will include translating business requirements into technical designs, selecting appropriate technologies, and developing secure, testable code using modern programming languages. You will automate deployment processes utilizing CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub, and Jenkins, ensuring efficient and reliable releases. Maintaining and optimizing both front-end and back-end code, APIs, and core infrastructure will be part of your daily tasks, alongside applying Test-Driven Development (TDD) to ensure high-quality solutions.

You will troubleshoot production incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement monitoring and logging to preempt vulnerabilities. Ensuring compliance with security standards, managing access controls, and supporting audits will be critical components of your role. Additionally, you will produce comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, SOPs, and runbooks, while mentoring peers and sharing knowledge through code reviews and team sessions.

Collaboration with product owners, stakeholders, and business partners to provide technical guidance on effort, risks, and trade-offs is essential. You will also participate in agile rituals such as standups, retrospectives, sprint planning, and backlog refinement, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Other duties may include working with UI/UX designers to optimize performance and accessibility, supporting content management platforms, and exploring emerging AI solutions to enhance digital capabilities.

Benefits Medica offers a comprehensive total rewards package designed to support our employees' well-being and professional growth. The benefits include competitive medical, dental, and vision plans, generous paid time off, holidays, and paid volunteer time off. We also provide a 401(k) retirement plan with company contributions, caregiver services, and various wellness programs.

Our commitment to work-life balance and employee development ensures a supportive environment where team members can thrive both personally and professionally.

Salary for this role ranges from $115,400 to $156,560, depending on experience, education, and other factors. Additional incentives and performance-based bonuses may also be available.

Equal Opportunity Medica is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace. We consider all qualified candidates regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, national origin, citizenship, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, veteran status, disability, genetic information, or any other protected characteristic. We adhere to all applicable employment laws and are dedicated to providing a workplace free from discrimination and harassment.

All applicants will be notified of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws, and we encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply and join our mission of delivering connected, compassionate healthcare.
