Chamberlain Advisors is seeking a Full-Stack Java Software Engineer Consultant to support a high-impact engineering team within a leading financial services organization. This role sits within a group responsible for fees and incentives applications, which power critical transaction processing and reporting functions across the business.

This is a hands-on, full-stack development role with a strong backend foundation in Java, combined with growing frontend responsibilities as the team begins a UI modernization initiative. The ideal candidate will be comfortable building scalable backend services while also contributing to frontend development using modern JavaScript frameworks.

The environment is fast-paced and collaborative, operating in Agile sprints with frequent deployments. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to large-scale system enhancements, including increased processing capacity, cloud-native architecture, and user interface re-engineering.

  • *What You Will Be Accountable For
  • Design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications using Java and modern JavaScript frameworks
  • Build and enhance backend services and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring technologies
  • Contribute to frontend development efforts, including UI modernization using React or similar frameworks
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions
  • Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to code reviews and best practices
  • Develop and execute unit and integration tests to ensure application quality
  • Work with SQL databases to support data processing, reporting, and system performance
  • Identify opportunities for performance optimization and scalability improvements
  • Support CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and environment builds
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives
  • *What Qualifications You Need
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Java development
  • Strong experience with the Spring Framework (Spring Boot and/or Spring MVC)
  • Experience building and supporting REST APIs and backend services
  • Frontend development experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and a modern framework (React preferred, Angular acceptable)
  • Experience writing SQL queries and working with relational databases
  • Familiarity with Linux-based environments
  • Experience with build and CI/CD tools such as Maven, Jenkins, and Git
  • Experience with unit and integration testing (e.g., JUnit, Mockito)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience with React and modern UI development
  • Exposure to cloud-native development, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP) (AWS acceptable)
  • Experience with microservices architecture
  • Familiarity with Postgres, BigQuery, or similar data platforms
  • Experience with Spring Batch or batch processing systems
  • Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence)
