Java Developer

About the Role

We are looking for a talented and motivated Java Developer to join our engineering team and contribute to the design, development, and continuous improvement of scalable, secure, and high-performance software applications. In this role, you will work closely with experienced engineers, product managers, QA teams, and other stakeholders to transform business requirements into reliable and maintainable technical solutions. You will be responsible for developing backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot, while following modern software engineering practices and established architectural patterns. You will play an important role in building new features, enhancing existing functionality, improving application performance, and resolving technical issues across the platform. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of object-oriented programming, Java fundamentals, RESTful APIs, databases, and backend architecture, along with a passion for writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code. You should be comfortable working on complex problems, analyzing existing systems, and making thoughtful technical decisions that balance performance, scalability, maintainability, and business requirements.

You will also collaborate with frontend developers to design effective API contracts and ensure seamless integration between frontend and backend systems. As part of the development lifecycle, you will participate in code reviews, unit and integration testing, debugging, performance optimization, and deployment activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable Java applications.

• Develop robust RESTful APIs and backend services using Java and Spring Boot.

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following established coding standards.

• Design and optimize database queries, schemas, and data-access layers.

• Integrate backend services with internal and third-party APIs.

• Troubleshoot application issues and participate in debugging and root-cause analysis.

• Write unit and integration tests to ensure application reliability.

• Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving engineering practices.

• Collaborate with product managers, designers, QA engineers, and other developers.

• Monitor application performance and identify opportunities for optimization.

• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, and technical discussions.

• Stay current with emerging Java and backend development technologies.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• 2+ years of professional experience in Java development.

• Strong proficiency in Java 8+ and object-oriented programming.

• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Data JPA.

• Strong understanding of REST APIs and microservices architecture.

• Experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.

• Good knowledge of SQL and database design.

• Experience with Git and version-control workflows.

• Familiarity with unit testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.

• Good understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Elasticsearch or other search technologies.

• Knowledge of Kafka or other messaging systems.

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or another cloud platform.

• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.

• Experience working with distributed systems and high-volume applications.

• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
