Senior Java / Azure Microservices Engineer Position Title: Senior Java / Azure Microservices Engineer Location: Remote Clearance Requirements: None Position Status: Contract Pay Rate: $60.00 - $65.00/hr Work Authorization: US Citizens, Green Card Holders, TN Visa, Green Card EADs Experience: 8+ years preferred Position Description We are seeking an experienced Senior Java / Azure Microservices Engineer to design, develop, integrate, and support scalable cloud-native applications in a modern enterprise environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong backend development expertise with Java and Spring Boot, hands-on experience building microservices and APIs, and a solid understanding of Azure cloud, containerization, CI/CD, and secure service-to-service communication. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, designing reliable integrations, and working collaboratively within a large enterprise technology organization.
Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices-based applications using Java and Spring Boot. Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and enterprise services using MuleSoft and modern API design practices. Build reliable service-to-service integrations and communications within containerized environments.
Develop and deploy cloud-native applications using Microsoft Azure, with hands-on experience in Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) or Azure Container Apps (ACA). Design and work with Azure cloud databases, including data modeling and database architecture. Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines supporting automated build, testing, deployment, and release processes.
Implement secure authentication and authorization using security principals, tokens, OAuth, JWT, and related identity concepts. Apply best practices for scalability, performance, reliability, security, and maintainability. Collaborate with architects, developers, DevOps engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver enterprise solutions.
Troubleshoot complex application, integration, and cloud-related issues.
Required Skills / Education 8+ years of professional software development experience, preferably in enterprise environments. Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture. Proven experience designing and developing REST APIs and enterprise integrations.
Hands-on experience with MuleSoft or comparable API/integration platforms. Strong understanding of service-to-service communication in containerized environments. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services.
Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and/or Azure Container Apps (ACA).
Experience working with cloud databases in Azure and designing effective data models. Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automated software delivery.
Experience implementing authentication and authorization using secure principals, access tokens, and service identities. Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. Professional demeanor and the ability to work effectively within a large, enterprise-scale organization. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
