Role Overview:

• Seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with 10+ years of hands-on expertise in Core Java, distributed microservices, and merchant payment technologies.
• In this role, you will lead backend software design and implementation of enterprise grade microservices powering millions of daily POS transactions across the global Clover merchant ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Backend Strategy & JVM Optimization
• Architect and scale mission critical backend services using Core Java and JVM.
• Perform JVM performance tuning, memory sizing, and monitoring through load and performance testing.
• Microservices Design & Implementation
• Build distributed, fault tolerant architectures emphasizing scalability, fault isolation, and high availability.
• API Strategy & Scaling
• Drive RESTful API design, contract definition, and manage high throughput, low latency backend workflows.
• Team Leadership (Portal & Payments)
• Apply deep payment domain expertise across workflows, order management, merchant management, and payment processing for POS SaaS services.
• Technical Innovation & Experimentation
• Apply platform architectural decision frameworks to drive high ROI OSS standards and high performing Product, Security, and Compliance Engineering practices.
• Collaboration & Program Management
• Lead senior engineering reviews, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross functional technical and product teams.

Technical Competencies & Proficiencies

• Core Java, JVM tuning, and performance optimization techniques
• Distributed microservices using Spring Boot or similar frameworks
• RESTful APIs, asynchronous messaging, and data pipeline management
• Deep understanding of Payment Processing Systems and Order Management Systems (OMS)
• Cloud Infrastructure Deployment: Advanced knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines
• Database Design & Optimization: Expertise in MySQL, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, and Redis
• Monitoring & Observability: Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, and ELK stack
• Security & Compliance: Understanding of PCI DSS, authentication standards, and secure coding practice
