Job description

Requirements

Must have:

- We require a bachelors or masters degree in Computer or Software Engineering, along with at least 10 years of experience planning, analyzing, designing, and implementing embedded systems.
  • We need strong hands-on expertise in C and C++.
  • We are looking for proven technical leadership, including ownership of firmware architecture and mentoring other engineers.
  • Experience developing real-time firmware on ARM is required.
  • We seek experience building firmware for mixed-signal or sensing devices, with comfort working alongside ADC, AFE, and DSP subsystems and related signal-processing concepts.
  • Low-level driver development and hardware/firmware bring-up experience are required.
  • Familiarity with high-speed host communication interfaces such as I²C, SPI/QSPI, and UART is needed.
  • Experience with capacitive touch or HMI sensing systems is a strong plus.
  • Firmware security experience is a plus.
  • Candidates must be located in the USA and eligible to work in a hands-on consulting role; H-1B candidates, agency submissions, and C2C arrangements are not accepted.

Responsibilities:

- We lead firmware architecture and design for real-time sensing and touch-controller applications, and we own the associated software architecture and design documentation.
  • We develop and optimize low-level drivers and real-time data acquisition firmware for mixed-signal sensing hardware, including ADC, AFE, and DSP subsystems.
  • We write hands-on C and C++ code, including unit and functional tests.
  • We provide technical leadership and mentorship, review code and designs, and help establish engineering standards.
  • We review and refine requirements and translate them into robust firmware solutions.
  • We support Agile execution by participating in sprint planning, daily standups, and demonstrations.
  • We contribute to project planning, communicate status, risks, and blockers promptly, and track time spent on the project.
  • We collaborate closely with our client and their representatives across all phases of the engagement.

Company:

We are Fermat, an experienced consulting team supporting a client project in the sensing-semiconductor space focused on high-performance capacitive multi-touch controller silicon. This is a hands-on technical leadership role based on-site at the client location in Austin, Texas.

We offer a full-time contract opportunity with benefits including 401(k), dental insurance, health insurance, and vision insurance.
