Location: Richmond, VA (Hybrid – 3 days onsite, Friday remote)

Duration:9 monthIntroduction:We are seeking an experienced professional to design, develop, and manage scalable, high-performance APIs in a cloud-based environment. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in microservices architecture, API security, and enterprise integrations, along with the ability to lead development efforts and collaborate across cross-functional teams.Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong proficiency in Java (preferred), Python, or Go
• Deep understanding of RESTful API design and HTTP protocols
• Experience with GraphQL, WebSockets, gRPC
• Must have previous client experience working for this customer in the past 5 years

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Prior experience working with Capital One (preferred)
• Experience with GraphQL federation and advanced API protocols

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain robust RESTful APIs and backend services
• Lead API development initiatives using Java, Python, or Go
• Architect and implement microservices and event-driven systems
• Ensure API performance, scalability, and security best practices
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and engineering teams
• Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth 2.0, JWT, SAML)
• Develop and maintain API documentation using Swagger/OpenAPI and Postman
• Integrate APIs with enterprise systems using Kafka, ESB, and messaging queues
• Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and automate deployments
• Optimize system performance through caching, load balancing, and CDN strategies
