Lead Software Engineer

Requirements

Must have:

- Bachelors degree with at least fourteen (14) years of experience; Masters degree with twelve (12) years of experience; PhD or JD with nine (9) years of experience.

• Proven history of leading development teams and managing intricate technical projects.
• Expertise in scripting for automation (e.g., Bash, PowerShell) and familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform).
• Hands-on experience with legacy Java, JSP, native JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and MSSQL, including client-side JavaScript libraries (e.g., JQuery, AngularJS, Bootstrap).
• Strong comprehension of the software development lifecycle.
• Demonstrated adherence to secure coding standards, object-oriented design principles, and experience in building, testing, and deploying applications.
• Active Secret clearance is required.

Responsibilities:

- Lead and mentor a diverse development team, promoting performance improvement, collaboration, and innovative thinking.

• Manage tasks and ensure compliance with project timelines, budgets, and objectives.
• Collaborate with program leadership to ensure application upgrades align with program objectives.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable Java code for applications, frameworks, or systems while being an active contributor to the development team.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to uphold high coding standards and best practices.
• Identify and resolve bugs, performance bottlenecks, and technical debt within existing Java codebases.
• Create prototypes for new features, architectures, or technologies in Java to demonstrate feasibility.
• Develop and uphold robust Java development standards, focusing on design patterns, modular architecture, and reusable libraries.
• Assess and pilot new technologies, ensuring seamless integration into current program frameworks.
• Strategize and implement plans for technology refresh cycles, ensuring program relevance aligns with emerging market and mission requirements.
• Work closely with technology vendors and research teams to evaluate their applicability to program needs.
